Welcome, I'm Chris!.
I'm a Frontend Developer
I've spent the last 5 years building and scaling software for some pretty cool companies. As a former Chef I love to cook up beautiful interfaces with React, and keep a keen eye out for bugs to keep from ruining the Gumbo!๐ฅฃ

About.
Hey! I'm Chris, if you haven't already gathered that by now. I'm a Chef ๐จโ๐ณ turned software engineer in Dallas, Texas. I specialize in Frontend Development, primarily with React and Redux, with a passion for security. Don't get me wrong, I love learning new technologies. In fact I look forward to it.
I spent the last 5 years working as a frontend engineer. The last 3 of those spent with Text-Em-All. Building out new user interfaces and supporting the front end product team. I also toss in my ยข2 with security concerns and I even started a monthly penetration test to identify concerns and harden our security posture.
Outside of work, I still love to Cook. At any given time you can find me in the kitchen throwing down. However the dishes are a little healthier these days omitting the butter in lieu of avocado oil ๐ฅ.
I'm never afraid to share my trade secrets and you can always count on me throwing my hat in the ring at any kind of cook off. If you cant find me in the kitchen then there are only two other places to check, the gym or the discgolf course!
I'm currently looking for new positions where I can merge my love for code with my passion to learn new things. If you think you've got an opening that I might like, let's connect ๐

Experience.
At Text-Em-All, I wore my coding hat with a smile, collaborating closely with Product Owners to turn their ideas into sleek code solutions. In our Agile playground, I followed the rhythm of SDLC best practices to deliver quick iterations for our clients. Testing web-based products was a routine, and I made sure to keep our customers happy with timely updates. Besides coding, I played the role of a security enthusiast, conducting monthly security audits using OWASP Zap and Burp Suite. Teaming up with our Sysadmin, I helped reinforce company-wide security policies. In a small, nimble crew, we took on the challenge of migrating and setting up servers at a new location while keeping the downtime to a minimum and ensuring smooth company-wide communication.. Also gained some mean skills in ping pong!
As a Front End Engineer at GuestX, I put my creativity to work by giving the Kiosk UI a fresh look using React and Redux. I handled Azure's IIS, VMs, and App Service like a pro while introducing agile workflows and version control to keep things agile. Leading the charge in upgrading and maintaining new UI features was both challenging and rewarding. I also documented our development methodologies to guide future projects and wore multiple hats to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
I orchestrated the symphony of restaurant operations, dancing through the intricate steps of inventory control and waltzing with customer service. Like a culinary sensei, I molded kitchen staff through a blend of training, occasional disciplinary action (gentle nudges, not martial arts), and performance reviews. Crafting menus was my palette, and I conducted a tightrope act to control food costs while ensuring a delicious experience for patrons. I was also the sanitation and safety maestro, making sure everything ran smoothly, just like a well-choreographed performance. Also to answer your question..... Yes 'Bear' on hulu is very accurate!
